Next-Gen Carbon Storage

Olivine Technologies is developing a transformative solution that utilises carbon mineralisation to store CO₂ and produce critical minerals. Our future reactors will enable industries to address their carbon emissions while producing sustainable, high-value materials for global markets.

Our Solution

The reactor technology which is currently under development, aims to offer a modular, scalable solution that will enable high-emission industries—including distilleries, ethanol and biogas plants and other DAC facilities—to address their carbon challenges while creating value from mineral production.

Current TRL is 4-5: Significant testwork has been carried out indicating primary parameters and systems. Olivine Technologies is now focused on mechanical engineering design and testing for industrial pilot scale testing.

This dual-purpose approach positions Olivine Technologies as a future leader in sustainable carbon management and critical mineral supply.

Unlike traditional carbon storage solutions, which are pipeline limited, our decentralised reactor system will offer a near-site hub option, ensuring permanent and verifiable carbon sequestration.

By utilising CO₂ in the production of high-value minerals, we align with the goals of global decarbonisation while addressing growing demand for sustainably sourced carbon free critical materials.

  • Permanent Carbon Sequestration: Stabilises CO₂ in magnesite, offering a permanent and verifiable solution.

  • High-Value Mineral Production: Produces nickel-cobalt sulphate and amorphous silica, reducing reliance on carbon-intensive conventional mining.

  • Modular Scalability: Flexible reactor designs will cater to a variety of emission scales, making them ideal for SMEs in diverse sectors.

  • Competitive Costs: Future services are expected to be priced at £150–200 per tonne of CO₂, significantly lower than many large-scale alternatives.

  • Carbon Neutral Materials: Materials produced with net-zero emissions will offer a premium, sustainable alternative for critical industries.

Our carbon capture for industrial plants uses high grade Olivine (Forsterite) which we can supply directly from the Seqi olivine mine or form third party sources in other regions.

Olivine is a magnesium silicate mineral often associated with minor nickel-cobalt and chrome. Our process is focused on the recovery of these metals during the primary carbon sequestration process

Efficient carbon capture is achieved in a matter of hours in pressurised vessels while the inclusion of ligands leads to recovery of critical mineral concentrates with commercial value.
